The game is a great mix of different genres and it really uses every element in the game to suit its purpose. The Evil Within starts pretty normalish as you play as Detective Sebastian Castellanos who is expecting a crime scene of mass murder. Playing this game without researching it first does mess with your head as you start thinking that this is pretty normal, well for a game it is.

Then out of near enough nowhere, you are thrown into another reality and separated from all your co-workers. All these have something in common.

It has very good blood graphics and this game has a lot of it! I do not want to go too much into detail about the story as I feel it is one of the best aspects of The Evil Within 2. Once again, Sebastian Castellanos is the main character. After the events of the first game, he has quite the police force and has become an alcoholic due to the trauma of the first game and the horrors of losing his little girl many years earlier.

While he is getting wasted, he is approached by Juli who now works for Mobius and she informs him that his daughter, Lilly is still alive.

He ends up going with her and finds out that the machine which caused all the trouble from the first game is being used and his daughter is being used against her will to create a little town called, Union, but something has gone very wrong.

The gameplay in The Evil Within 2 is similar, but expanded on. The first Evil Within was far more contained. With this game, you have the whole of Union at your fingertips and as a result, the game is probably as close as you can get to being an open-world game without technically being one. You have a handy device that will point you in the right direction in case you get lost, but I found this game made it kind of hard to keep track of where I was supposed to go next. It almost felt a tad too ambitious if I am being honest.

Like the first game, you can expand Sebastian in a few different ways. The green gel is still at play here and you have a simple skill tree that is split up into different categories such as health and combat for example.
